LOOK OUT - THE AD’S BEHIND YOU

The streets to the Belgrade Theatre may be paved with gold thanks to some enterprising construction workers – oh yes they will!

Oakmoor Deeley, the development partnership creating the Belgrade Plaza entertainment and leisure quarter next to the theatre, is set to unveil the second phase of the scheme before Christmas.

The scaffolding will come off the new phase while work continues on the creation of the new Belgrade Square in the next few weeks.

That means the construction workers on site will be more visible than ever – so they have decided to help their neighbours by advertising the Belgrade’s panto Dick Whittington.

Their high-visibility jackets have been printed with adverts for the show which is the biggest production of the year for the award-winning theatre.

Peter Deeley, of Oakmoor Deeley, said: “We have worked closely with the theatre because our two developments perfectly complement each other.

“This major phase will include the Gala Casino, Premier Inn, Pizza Express, Bella Pasta, and Metro Bar & Grill so it will dramatically improve the leisure and entertainment offer in the city centre.

“That means our construction staff will be very visible so we thought we would help out the theatre. It is critical to attract as many people as we can to the pantomime in particular and the Belgrade, which is a great theatre.

“We are working together on the Belgrade Square to create what we believe will be one of best meeting places in Coventry and Warwickshire and as the hoardings come down the quality of the space will become apparent – as will the adverts for Dick Whittington.”

The panto kicked off this week and will run through to January 10th.

Hamish Glen, Belgrade’s Artistic Director and Chief Executive, said: “We reckon this is the most unusual theatre advert in the country and it is great that we are working so closely to promote the theatre and Belgrade Plaza.

“We have an excellent working relationship with Oakmoor Deeley and both organisations are well aware of how important it is to bring people into our city centre.”

Tickets for Dick Whittington are available from the box office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £11 to £19. You can also book online at www.belgrade.co.uk.
