Couple Win Six Month Pass

Harry and Marie Foulstone patiently wait for the Leigh Mills car park to reopen so they can use their free pass.

A couple from Coventry have won a six month car parking pass for the new look Belgrade Plaza.

Harry and Marie Foulstone, who have been married for 32 years and live in Holbrooks, were the closest to guess how many extra spaces there will be at the Leigh Mills car park when construction work is complete.

Marie Foulstone, who was officially the runner up in the competition after her husband won the free pass, said: “It is a brilliant prize and it is going to make our lives easier.

“Harry said we can share the pass so he can use it during the week for work and I can use it at the weekends when I go shopping.”

The car park is currently being extended to take 1,100 vehicles - which is double the existing capacity - and it will be served by a new access and egress ramp off the ring road.

It will feature new lifts and a much improved environment and developers’ Oakmoor Deeley plan to reopen it in the autumn.

Tim Hurdiss, of Oakmoor Deeley, said he was delighted the couple were happy with their prize.

“Although free parking is not a very glamorous thing to win it will help Harry and Marie to save money and should make accessing the city centre trouble free,” he said.
